Inclusive Semi-leptonic B Decays to order 1/m_b^4
We give a systematic way to compute higher orders in the 1/m_b expansion in
inclusive semi-leptonic decays at tree level. We reproduce the known 1/m_b^3
terms and compute the 1/m_b^4 terms at tree level. The appearing
non-perturbative parameters and the impact on the determination of V_{cb} are
discussed.Comment: 23 pages, 3 figures, uses phystex.st
Order alpha_s^2 beta_0 Correction to the Charged Lepton Spectrum in b \to c \ell \bar\nu_\ell decays
We compute the \alpha_s^2\beta_0 part of the two-loop QCD corrections to the
charged lepton spectrum in b \to c \ell \bar\nu_\ell decays and find them to be
about 50\% of the first order corrections at all lepton energies, except those
close to the end point. Including these corrections we extract the central
values \bar\Lambda=0.33 GeV and \lambda_1=-0.17 GeV^2 for the HQET matrix
elements and use them to determine the b and c quark
masses, and |V_{cb}|.Comment: 15 pages, 1 Postscript figur
Angular Distribution and Polarization of Photons in the Inclusive Decay
We study the angular distribution of photons produced in the inclusive decay
of a polarized , , using the technique of
Heavy Quark Effective Theory. Finite non-perturbative corrections are obtained
relative to the free quark decay . These corrections affect
significantly the intensity and polarization of photons emitted at small angles
relative to the spin direction.Comment: 10 pages, LaTeX, uses epsf, 2 figures appended as uuencoded,

B decay and the Upsilon mass
Theoretical predictions for inclusive semileptonic B decay rates are
rewritten in terms of the Upsilon(1S) meson mass instead of the b quark mass,
using a modified perturbation expansion. This method gives theoretically
consistent and phenomenologically useful results. Perturbation theory is well
behaved, and the largest theoretical error in the predictions coming from the
uncertainty in the quark mass is eliminated. The results are applied to the
determination of , , and .Comment: 8 pages revte
Hadronic mass and q^2 moments of charmless semileptonic B decay distributions
We report OPE predictions for hadronic mass and q^2 moments in inclusive
semileptonic B decays without charm, taking into account experimental cuts on
the charged lepton energy and on the hadronic invariant mass, and address the
related theoretical uncertainty.Comment: 16 pages, 1 figure; v3: we have corrected a mistake in the code that

Gauge-invariant fluctuations of scalar branes
A generalization of the Bardeen formalism to the case of warped geometries is
presented. The system determining the gauge-invariant fluctuations of the
metric induced by the scalar fluctuations of the brane is reduced to a set of
Schr\"odinger-like equations for the Bardeen potentials and for the canonical
normal modes of the scalar-tensor action. Scalar, vector and tensor modes of
the geometry are classified according to four-dimensional Lorentz
transformations. While the tensor modes of the geometry live on the brane
determining the corrections to Newton law, the scalar and and vector
fluctuations exhibit non normalizable zero modes and are, consequently, not
localized on the brane. The spectrum of the massive modes of the fluctuations
is analyzed using supersymmetric quantum mechanics.Comment: 29 pages in Latex styl
Hadronic Spectral Moments in Semileptonic B Decays With a Lepton Energy Cut
We compute the first two moments of the final hadronic invariant mass in
inclusive semileptonic B decay, in the presence of a cut on the charged lepton
energy. These moments may be measured directly by experiments at the
Upsilon(4S) using the neutrino reconstruction technique, which requires such a
cut. Measurement of these moments will place constraints on the nonperturbative
parameters \bar\Lambda and \lambda_1, which are relevant for extracting the
quark masses m_b and m_c, as well as the CKM angle V_cb. We include terms of
order \alpha_s^2\beta_0 and 1/m_b^3 in the operator product expansion, and use
the latter to estimate the theoretical uncertainty in the extraction of
\bar\Lambda and \lambda_1.Comment: 13 pages, 5 figures, REVTe
Nonperturbative Determination of Heavy Meson Bound States
In this paper we obtain a heavy meson bound state equation from the heavy
quark equation of motion in heavy quark effective theory (HQET) and the heavy
meson effective field theory we developed very recently. The bound state
equation is a covariant extention of the light-front bound state equation for
heavy mesons derived from light-front QCD and HQET. We determine the covariant
heavy meson wave function variationally by minimizing the binding energy
. Subsequently the other basic HQET parameters and
, and the heavy quark masses and can also be
consistently determined.Comment: 15 pages, 1 figur
